VEHA ( Vail Eagle Hockey Association) in conjunction with with WECMRD ( Western Eagle County Recreation District) is pleased to offer the chance to " learn from the pro's" by attending the 5th annual Vail Mountaineer Summer Hockey Clinics August 18 - 22, 2008. This unique opprotunity is available to a limited number of youth players throughout the Western Colorado region. Each Group will have 1.5 hours or on-ice instruction in addtioion to off ice instruction and daily classroom instruction. ( Off-ice instruction conducted by Howard Head Sports Medicine).
Instructional Staff features former NHL players and professional coaches. Come and enjoy a program that can only be found in the Eagle Valley this summer.
- Dennis Hextall - named to two NHL All-Star teams , Played with the Minnesota North Stars and the Detroit Red Wings.
- Dale Raminsky - Tampa bay Lightning, AAA on-ice Instructor
- Bill Beanie - Head Coach Middlebury College, 5 Time Nation Champion / Coach of the Year
- John Herrington - Coach 13 years D-III St. John's University, Member of 1980 Gold Medal USA Hockey Team and 1984 Olympic Team
- Paul MacKinnon - 6 seasons with the Washington Capitols
- Rob Palmer - * years in the NHL with the LA Kings and New Jersey Devils after playing at the University of Michigan
- Jim Bedard - GOAL TENDING COACH - Played for the Washington Capitols in the 1970's - Currently is the Goaltending Coach forthe Detroit Red Wings. Coached Domic Hasek and Curtis Joseph among many others.
- Barry Smith - Coaching Director - 12 years as Assistant Coach with Scotty Bowman and the Detroit Red Wings. Coached with Wayne Gretzky and Pheonix Cyotes, and during the past year was a coach in the Russian Premiere League.
Cost of Clinic is $ 200.00 in district and $250.00 out of district. Equipment rental is available for $25.00. There will also be Adult session available in the evenings. See the brochure.
