Our charter is to provide youth hockey opportunities for all ability levels in the Eagle County area for boys and girls. Our teams include both competitive travel teams and recreational in-house.
VEHA works closely with both WECMRD (Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District), who manage the rink in Eagle and with VRD (Vail Recreation District) for ice time at Dobson in Vail and to provide coaches for their in-house programs.
Hockey is a wonderful sport for all ages. Over the last 30 years our boys and girls have had a great time and made friends for life. We hope a new generation of players will join us this year.

The Vail Eagle Hockey Association (VEHA) is a youth hockey organization dedicated to teaching the sport of ice hockey through the principals of fair play, respect and sportsmanship with an emphasis on fun, the development of character and the individual potential of hockey players in a safe and healthy environment.

Dear member of Vail/Eagle Hockey Association,
A special moment occurred over 12 years ago that has affected kids throughout the Vail Valley for many years. As the Director of Vail Junior Hockey at the time, I had the pleasure of meeting President Ford at an event honoring non-profit organizations throughout the valley. As the evening progressed, I had a chance to talk with President Ford. His interest in youth sports was impressive, and after being awarded a financial grant from his organization to ours, he asked me “are you looking out for all of the kids”? That simple statement said many things about President Ford as a person and as an athlete. I was proud then to have answered “yes” (as we had just started a recreational program to complement existing travel team options) and I am still proud today about our valley’s recreational programs. This past hockey season we had over 250 players have the opportunity to develop themselves through the sport youth hockey.
It has not always been easy, but the chance to give back to a wonderful sport and teach kids lessons about character and integrity are worth the extra effort it sometimes takes. Vail/Eagle Hockey Association was formed over two years ago and is made up of people committed to these principles. We are volunteers that care first about the development of the person and secondly about the development of the hockey player. Our goal is to teach character and integrity to those players that participate in youth hockey programs throughout the valley. Whether a player signs up with VRD( mini-mite/mite/squirt rec), WECMRD(mini-mite/mite/squirt rec), or VEHA(squirt trave/PeeWee/Bantam/Girls/Midget), VEHA helps manage and support all these programs and provides opportunities so that all kids enjoy the sport of youth hockey.
Youth hockey participation is a privilege that many volunteers work hard to offer to the children of the Vail valley. It will no longer be perceived as a right to participate in youth hockey just because a check has been written or a talent level has been achieved. Participation will be earned and personal conduct will be evaluated, just as it is done in many other youth activity associations in the country. We will be proud of every team because they will represent our goals and ideals throughout the year. We will be proud of our players.
Being a player in VEHA will require a commitment to character. Player code of conducts, as well as parent and coaches code of conducts, are in place and will be enforced for the next year by all VEHA board members as well as coaches and arena representatives. VEHA is committed to developing character in every child. Please support these goals by becoming a volunteer in our association. No experience is necessary, just the will to work to make a difference. Hockey is a great sport and a tremendous opportunity to teach life lessons. When we all support each other we can achieve amazing results. I have seen this take place at different age levels in our association and hope that we can work together to make it happen in all age groups.
